Chengdu Shangri-La Hotel and Anshun Bridge (get KMZ at here)

Shangri-La Hotel is very famous, so do Anshun Bridge in Chengdu people's heart.

Anshun Bridge is a new bridge but has long history.

The history is so long that nobody knows when the bridge built. :) But we can find it was re-built in 1746, more than 160 years ago and named as Long Rainbow Bridge. In 1947, because of huge flood, the Bridge was destoryed. Then, Chengdu people built a very simple bridge for walking only. In 1978, the bridge was re-built and named as Anshun Bridge. In 1982, the bridge was rebuilt again because of the flood. In 1996, because Chengdu city had deleloped very much, the old bridge could not afford any more, local government decided to re-built it. The new one was built from 2000, during 3 years.

The new Anshun Bridge archaizea mixed Ming and Qing dynasty style, 81 meters long and 6 meters wide. The surfaces of bridge is made of bluestone. The most interesting and most Chinese style is there are two statues beast of Chinese myth, they can make the bridge not only beautiful but also safe -- at least do not be flood away again. Of course, there are also other Chinese feature, such as lion statues stayed on the baluster, the carved flowers on the wall, etc.

Of course, in the modern time, Anshun Bridge have new feature. There are a specical rest restaurant on the bridge, the second floor, the only one in Chengdu. It will be a very special experience.

The Shangri-La Hotel is Anshun Bridge's new neighbor. Shangri-La Hotel (Chengdu) opened in 2007, the feature is you can drive in the hall, and have the most quantity of rooms in Chengdu 549 rooms, and 9 open kitchen.

Anshun Bridge is the continuation of Chengdu traditional, Shangri-La Hotel is the statue of very modern Chengdu, the mixed at here.
